Oh my dear little quilt! Well, it is actually not that little! I think for my first quilt I should have started with a little throw, not a double! No matter what flaws it may have or how big it actually is.. I love it!
Last week I finished sewing all of my blocks together. I have my quilt batting and backer ready, well sort of… After doing the math I noticed that I did not have enough fabric for my back. If that was not enough I ran into another issue, the fabric that I purchased was ordered online and would take a good deal of time (definitely not in time for this post). So I used what seemed to be a very common piecing method that I found online to create a back with two different fabrics. There are so many different methods out there, I think that I took the most common route- but I like the outcome.
With my ironed backer sewn together in a uniformed three panel formation along with my ironed front panel I sandwiched my quilt together. After a little adjusting I pinned my corners, snipped a little bit of the overflow from the sides and ironed my sandwich. I was not completely impressed with the fusible batting that I purchased, it did not hold the fabric as much as I had hoped. We shall see what the end result will be.
Follow me next Thursday as I stitch my sandwich together.
Happy New Year All!
Xoxo
