Last September, I got married. For the wedding flowers, I had a crazy idea to make them all paper. This turned out to be more of a Herculean task than at first suspected. I started making the bouquets and I soon realized I was going to need help. So I got all my best girlfriends together and we made flower after flower after flower. My mom lives up in Lava Hot Springs and cut out tons of hearts for us to use for each rose. Eventually we made about 50 bouquets. At the reception, I let everyone take home as many bouquets as they wanted. When I got home from my honeymoon, I found there was only about 12 left. It's a nice feeling to know that people liked them enough that they wanted to keep them for their own home decor. I didn't know what to do with the rest of the bouquets I had, so when the idea came to me to assemble them all in a wreath, I thought that was a pretty good solution.
Click on the below link to find out how to make your own paper flowers to turn into a bouquet or wreath!
Then you place a little hot glue at the bottom tip of the heart and wrap it around a metal wire. Continue to wrap your paper hearts over the previous heart.
When you have completed gluing the hearts, your flower should look something similar to the flower below on the top left. In order for the styrofoam wreath to not look like styrofoam, I painted the circle in an antique bronze color. Then, I started inserting each flower.
Here's a picture of some of the leftover bouquets from the wedding. They look a little bedraggled, but I think you get the idea!
First I inserted the flowers in a row along the top, then right next to them on the back side and then the front side and continued until I had completely filled the styrofoam. I'm not going to lie to you guys, the flower making process takes a lot of time, you'll probably need at least 100 flowers if you're going to make a wreath. If you're just going to make a bouquet, it's not that bad at all. Definitely something to do with your hands while watching Downton Abbey!
I finished making this wreath and I was so proud of it. Such a lovely momento from my wedding. There are so many fun and creative things you can do with your Slice!
That is a totally awesome idea. I will have to try that with my daycare kids and my daughter that I homeschool. She got a Slice of her own for Christmas!
