Gobble! Gobble! Gobble! It’s almost turkey day! Geeze.. Where did the summer go! With this fun Make-It Monday craft I decided to be super resourceful and create a project that can be loved all fall long and not just when the turkeys comes to town!
I have created this project with both a proper felt and also a lower cost craft felt. If you decide to use craft felt as I did you will need to use a few sheets of invisicut.
Craft felt on the bolt was on sale at my local store so I gobbled up my favorite fall colors and cut them into 12x12 squares. I then used InvisiCut, which is placed atop of my felt to cut several different leaves ranging from 2” to 3.5”. It is important to remember that when cutting any thicker fabrics such as felt to leave the Slice in place and cut a second or even third time for good measure.
After removing the InvisiCut from my leaves I scattered them all over my workspace and started to create an interlocking pattern. If you are a crafting superstar you can extend your pattern to even create a table runner.
Once you have a pattern going there are several different options to adhere your leaves together at the points where they connect. I have successfully connected my design two different ways, one using transparent thread and another with clear drying fabric glue. Either way will work fine just be sure to place a sheet of wax paper under your project if using glue.
In just a matter of minutes you will have a fun, fabulous placemat just like those in the large department stores!
